Free AI detector — no sign-up

Paste a paragraph and get a transparent heuristic score plus explanations. Built for teachers, editors, and writers who want a quick check—not a claim of 99% accuracy, and not a tool to beat Turnitin.

Runs locally in your browser. No sign-up. Text is not uploaded to dk-js servers.

Why people search for a free AI detector

Teachers, editors, hiring managers, and students often want a quick read on whether a passage shows AI-like patterns—stock transitions, repetitive phrasing, or unusually even sentence length. Commercial detectors advertise accuracy and dashboards. Independent free checkers compete on no sign-up and instant paste. dk-js joins that free lane with an explicit tradeoff: we show heuristic signals you can understand, instead of a black-box “99% accurate” claim.

What this checker is designed to do

Paste a paragraph or longer draft, run Detect, and review a score plus explanations. Use it as a teaching aid, a drafting self-check, or a conversation starter about clarity. It is not a courtroom instrument, not a Turnitin integration, and not a promise that institutional integrity software will agree. Short snippets under a few dozen characters are flagged as too short because statistical signals collapse into noise.

Step-by-step: running a useful check

1) Paste at least a full paragraph of continuous prose. 2) Prefer the version a student or writer actually submitted, not a single sentence. 3) Read the signal cards—sentence variety, template phrases, repeated bigrams—before reacting to the headline score. 4) If the text is formal policy language or careful ESL writing, expect more false “AI-like” hints and slow down. 5) Improve clarity with Prompt Packs when the issue is robotic tone, rather than hunting for a bypass rewriter.

Classroom and workplace scenarios

A teacher might spot heavy use of “furthermore / in conclusion” scaffolding and open a discussion about voice. An editor might check a vendor blog draft before publishing. A hiring team might glance at a cover letter for template density—then still interview the human. None of these scenarios replace reading for understanding, fact-checking, or knowing the author’s process.

How the MVP heuristic works (transparent)

Scoring combines burstiness of sentence length, density of common transition stock phrases, repeated word pairs, and uniformity patterns. Everything runs in your browser for this MVP: we do not require an account, and we do not upload your paste to dk-js servers to compute the score. Different vendors (GPTZero, ZeroGPT, Grammarly, Copyleaks) use other models; mismatched scores are expected.

False positives, short text, and ESL writing

Human writers who were taught five-paragraph essay formulas can look “AI-like.” Non-native writers who rely on safe academic transitions can too. Boilerplate legal or HR language is repetitive by nature. Treat elevated scores as prompts for conversation, not automatic accusations. When text is short, ask for more context instead of forcing a verdict.

What we refuse to productize

We do not sell or feature an AI humanizer, undetectable rewriter, or Turnitin circumvention flow. Those narratives create AdSense and academic-integrity risk and conflict with how we want the detector explained. If writing feels mechanical, rewrite for clarity, evidence, and voice—optionally with homepage writing prompts—not to evade a score.

Privacy and advertising notes

Detection text stays in the browser session for scoring. Site-level cookies, analytics, and ads on eligible pages are described in the Privacy Policy, including Google Ads Settings. Trust pages such as About, Contact, Privacy, Terms, and Updates do not inject pagead.

Frequently asked questions

No. This is a lightweight heuristic for education and drafting. Do not treat the score as forensic proof or as a substitute for institutional tools.

No. We intentionally do not promote bypass or “make it undetectable” rewriters. Improve clarity and attribution instead.

This page is for text only. We do not ship an AI image or photo detector here.

With few sentences, statistical signals are noise. Paste a fuller paragraph or page before drawing conclusions.

Yes—no sign-up for the core check, and scoring is designed to run locally in your browser for this MVP.

Share the signal explanations, ask how the draft was produced, and focus on learning goals. Avoid punitive leaps from a single free-tool score.

No. Humans and models can both produce varied prose. Use process evidence (notes, versions, oral defense) alongside any detector.
